Enrique (he/him/Mr. Aqualord) is a laboratory assistant at the University of Hawaii’s Kewalo Marine Laboratory. In his day job, he investigates the relationship between the Hawaiian Bobtail Squid and the bioluminescent bacteria housed in their specialised organs. In his spare time, Enrique’s passion for the ocean is translated into highly detailed and conceptual artwork. When he’s not taking inspiration from the natural world, Enrique delves into surrealism and grotesque portrayals of reality, exploring the paradox of how the strangest of our subjective experiences reveal what we have most in common.
